Worried about a potential OFAC investigation – How to prepare?

I’ve been running an international trade consultancy for a few years, and we recently discovered that one of our former clients might have had links to a sanctioned entity we weren't aware of. We haven't received a formal notice yet, but I’m terrified of a potential audit or investigation from the Treasury. The penalties I’ve read about are life-changing. Should I wait for them to contact me, or is there a way to proactively protect my business? I have no idea how to even start "auditing" my own compliance history to see how deep the trouble might be. Has anyone here gone through a voluntary disclosure or a compliance audit?

Don't just wait around if you think there might be a compliance issue. It's much better to be proactive than reactive with this stuff. I’d really recommend having a specialized team look over your operations to build a proper defense strategy. You can find solid legal support over at https://ofacblockedfundslawyers.com/ They focus on compliance audits and can represent you if an investigation ever pops up. It's a lot easier to fix things now than to deal with federal fines later.
