Libbey Sheldon

In less than twelve months, Libbey Sheldon won the Masters 50-54 Cyclocross World Championships, the Masters 50-54 XC Mountain Bike National Championships, as well as the Masters 50-54 Marathon Mountain Bike National Championships.  If you want some proof that toughness cultivated on a daily basis pays off, look no further than Libbey: you'll find her commuting every day by bike in DC winters, never missing an interval by so much as one watt (except to go over!), and each week tenaciously taking on the new skills like riding sand or cornering.

"By day I’m a lawyer in DC, a mom to four boys, wife, and someone who loves to ride her bike. The rest of the time I’m trying to resist acting my age. My family keeps me on my toes, and for that I love them dearly. Playing outside--biking, running, skiing, gardening, hiking, camping [keeps me moving].  The three accomplishments I'm most proud of recently are the 2017 World Cyclocross Championship (age 50-54); 2017 National XC Mountain Bike Championship (age 50-54); and the 2018 National Marathon Mountain Bike Championship (age 50-54); as well as all the work that’s gone in to achieving those goals.

I’m looking forward to some nice weather in the mid-Atlantic to ride with my boys and all of the great folks in the area. This year (like every year) I want to get better as a technical rider.  New on the schedule this year is the Breck Epic, so I’m looking forward to high-altitude suffering 30 years after we left Colorado. I’m also looking forward to the 20th edition of the Shenandoah Mountain 100, and of course cyclocross season.  ¡Viva!"
